An article that describes how Tasks are generated in Contract Eagle

There are two ways a Task can be generated in Contract Eagle:

Tasks created Automatically by Milestone dates

The first is when a Milestone or event date approaches. If you are a contract owner or have been assigned a role on a contract, when a milestone date approaches, Contract Eagle sends you a reminder and creates a Task in the database against that contract for you to action. Depending on how your contract was entered, reminders could be sent in advance of the actual date; for example, you may get a reminder 90 days, 60 days and then again 7 days before the milestone date occurs.

Either way, when you get that first email, that's when the Task is created in the database. You may get subsequent reminder emails but they don't create further Tasks.

Tasks created Manually by other Contract Eagle users

The other way a Task could be generated is, at any time, a Contract Eagle user can create a manual task. This is usually done on the back of a particular contract, a scenario where a user is viewing a contract, decides someone else in the team needs to take some action with it, and creates a manual task. A manual task must be assigned to at least one Contract Eagle user and can be assigned to more than one user.

There are two types of manual Task:

(a) Standard Task, where you are required to do a piece of work and then mark the task as completed; or

(b) Document Request Task, where the only way you can complete the task is to attach a file to the task.

Finally, when a Task is created for you, either manually or automatically via a milestone date, you will be notified by email and that email contains a link for you to manage the task. See our article on how to manage tasks assigned to you.
