Overview
Contract Eagle supports the complete contract lifecycle - from contract draft through approval, signing, ongoing management, and final closure.
This article provides an overview of how a contract typically moves through the system, and how key features work together to support structured contract management, automation, and visibility.
The Contract Lifecycle at a glance
A contract in Contract Eagle typically follows these stages:
This represents the standard contract lifecycle available to customers on the Guardian plan (without an approval workflow) and the Elite plan (with an approval workflow).

Need a Structured Intake Process?
For customers on the Ultimate plan, the lifecycle can be extended with a tailored Intake process, powered by Custom Forms and connected to the Approval Workflow. This enables the full intake process - from request through drafting, negotiation, and approval - to be managed in one place, ensuring a single source of truth across the entire contract journey.
During Intake, key contract details are captured as part of the request and negotiation process, ensuring all information is collected and validated in a single, connected workflow.
Contract Record Structure
The screenshot below illustrates the structure of a typical contract record in Contract Eagle. The numbered sections highlight the key areas described above, showing how contract information is organised within a single record for easy access, tracking, and management throughout the contract lifecycle.
Summary
The Contract Lifecycle in Contract Eagle brings together all key stages of contract management into a single, continuous, structured process. From the moment a contract is created, users can capture key information, upload or generate documents, and manage approvals and electronic signing in a controlled and traceable way.
Once a contract is active, the system supports ongoing visibility through milestones, tasks, and a full audit history, ensuring that all changes and actions are recorded. After signing, contracts remain accessible for tracking and reporting until all obligations are completed and the contract is formally closed.
Overall, the lifecycle ensures that contracts are managed consistently from creation through to completion, with full transparency and control at every stage.
