Open your contract and make sure you are in Edit mode: it should say "Contract Maintenance Screen:" at the top, with the contract ID and name, and the fields should all appear blue. If not, scroll down and click the Edit button.

Click the Related Contracts tab to display any existing Master/Child contracts for this contract.

Add a Master contract to your contract

A contract can only have one master, so if your contract already has one, selecting a different master will replace the previous one.

  1. Click the link Select Master on the right-hand side of the screen.

  2. The "Master Contract" drop-down list will display a list of all contracts:
    (a) for the same counterparty as your contract - or one of the same counterparties       where there are multiple; and
    (b) whose contract type allows them to be used as master contracts.

  3. Select one of these contracts from the drop-down list and click OK.

  4. Click Save.

Remove a Master contract from your contract

As mentioned above,a contract can only have one master. So if you are looking to replace that master contract, just click "Select Master". There's no need to remove the previous one. Otherwise to remove the master altogether:

  1. Click the link Select Master on the right-hand side of the screen.

  2. The "Master Contract" field will display the current master.

  3. On the far right-hand side of this field, click the X to clear the current master contract. The drop-down list will still be extended, so just press Enter or Esc, or click on some empty white space.

  4. You should now see the text "Please select a value" in the Master Contract field: see the screenshot below.

  5. Click OK to go back to the Related Documents tab.

  6. Click Save.

Add or remove child contracts to your contract

A contract can have multiple children, so if your contract already has them, selecting a different child will add it to the list with the previous ones. Here's how you can add or remove them, regardless of how many there are already:

  1. Click the link Select Children on the right-hand side of the screen.

  2. Under "Select Child Contracts", you will see a list of all contracts:
for the same counterparty as your contract - or one of the same counterparties where there are multiple; and
whose contract type allows them to be used as child contracts.

  3. To add a child contract, change its radio button from Unselected to Selected

  4. To remove one, change its radio button to Unselected.

  5. Make as many changes in here as you wish and click OK.

  6. Click Save.
