Overview
This article expands on a section of the main Advanced Search article. From the Contracts menu > Advanced tab, you can perform a Keyword or Value search.
In the "Additional Filter #1" section, select a field or document from the first drop-down list. Select a search option from the drop-down list highlighted below to specify the type of filter to apply and enter your search term in the search value field:
You can perform a search combining two or more Filters by entering your first search criteria, then clicking + Add a filter for a specified field, e.g.:
Field
This control allows you to specify which fields to search. By default all fields and documents will be searched: "Any field or document". Make a selection in the drop-down to specify a particular contract field, any user-defined field, date or scheduled event. The following options are available:
Any field or document: searches through all contract fields, user defined fields, documents, and event dates (next and most recent only).
Contract Title | Contract Summary: searches the contract title/contract summary field only.
Contract Documents: searches within document content only.
Counterparty: searches within "counterparty name" and "counterparty also known as" only.
Any Event Date: Searches within the contract dates. If this option is chosen, then the search value entered must be a valid date.
Field: X: All user-defined fields will be listed under "Field: ...". Searches within the specified field only.
Event Date: X. Searches within the specified date only. All date fields will be listed under "Event Date: ..." If this option is chosen, then the search value entered must be a valid date. If the milestone is active, then the search will be restricted to the next event date only. If the milestone has expired, then the search will be restricted to the last event date only.

Search Options
Having selected a field, specify a search option before entering your keyword/search term.
Contains
The search term must exist somewhere within the field. This is only significant for text fields and documents. For dates and number values the "contains" option is equivalent to the "equals" option - see below.
Equals
The search term must match the exact value within the field. For number values it is not necessary to provide all decimal places, e.g. to search for the value $10.00 you only need enter "10" into the search value field.
Is between
This option allows for a range of values to be searched. On selecting it, two search value fields will appear. This screenshot shows a search using "is between" for a range of values on the "Contract Value" field:
Is less than or equals | Is greater than or equals | Is less than | Is greater than
Applies to numeric or date values:
"less than" - the value in the contract must be smaller or the date must be earlier than the Keyword search term."greater than" - must be larger than, or later than, the Keyword search term.
Is defined | Is undefined
These options are only available when searching a specific "Field X" or "Event X" field. When these options are selected, the search value field automatically disappears as there is no need to enter a search term or value.
"defined" - the value in the contract must be defined or specified for the selected field or date.
"undefined" - the value in the contract must be undefined or empty for the selected field or date.
Is due in N days
The next event due on the contract must occur within the number of days specified in the search value field. This option is only available when searching "Any Event Date" or an "Event Date: X" (e.g. "Event Date: Start Date").
Search Value
The search value field is where you enter the search term or value you are looking for. In the case of an "is between" search there are two values to enter. In the case of an "is defined" or "is undefined" search there are no values to enter.
